Mercado dos Lavradores is a must stop when you stay on Madeira Island. This historic site was designed by Eduardo Tavares and inaugurated in 1940. Its interior decoration is mainly made up of large regional-themed tiles by Faience Batisttini de Maria de Portugal and initially had as objective to supply the Madeiran capital of fish, vegetables and fruit trees.

The Mercado dos Lavradores is the most visited place by tourists, and only those who have never visited it do not know the unique experience that is to visit this space! In this space breathe culture, when entering the Market is hit by an explosion for your senses so much is the color, the smell, the flavors, the textures and the sounds!

The Farmers’ Market is open from Monday to Saturday (closed on Sundays and public holidays)
